After breakfast, transfer to the ferry terminal and board the InterIslander Ferry. Cross Cook Strait through picturesque Queen Charlotte Sound to the small fishing village of Picton, gateway to the South Island. Disembark and board your luxury coach for the journey to Montana’s Brancott Winery. Enjoy a Cellar Door experience, wine tasting, vineyard tour and an included lunch. This is New Zealand’s largest winery and home of Montana Wines.

Depart for Kaikoura, a fishing town that also boasts some of the world’s finest whale watching. View the Seal Colony here and continue along the shadow of the Kaikoura Ranges and on to beautiful garden city of Christchurch. Tonight is late night shopping so you may wish to do some last minute Christmas shopping after dinner.

1: Interislander Ferry
The Interislander Ferry cruise across Cook Strait is a 3 hour, 92km voyage that has been described as "one of the most beautiful ferry rides in the world". Watch for dolphins and other wildlife as you cruise through Queen Charlotte Sound before docking at the fishing village of Picton.  Your vessel this morning will be the Kaitaki, a Maori word meaning "Challenger" with a capacity to carry up to 1600 passengers and the largest ship in the fleet.  Kaitaki provides an array of options designed to enhance your journey, from the many observation decks and local cuisine, coffee and wines from the many food and beverage outlets.
 
2: Brancott Winery - Cellar Door Experience
At Montana’s Brancott Winery enjoy a Cellar Door experience, wine tasting and vineyard tour. This was the first winery in Marlborough when it opened in 1976 and today, its visitor facility has become a must on tourist itineraries. It features a tasteful restaurant, retail store, tasting rooms, wine education facility and even a small theatre. 
 
3: Brancott Winery Lunch
After your tour and wine tasting at Brancott Winery - sit down and enjoy a delicious lunch at this beautiful estate. Indulge and enjoy!
 
4: Kaikoura seal spotting
You will stop at Kaikoura, a quaint fishing town that boasts some of the world’s finest whale watching.  Time to stretch your legs and do a bit of seal spotting at the local seal colony from the main street.
 
5: Tamaki Heritage Show & Dinner
Tamaki Heritage Tours presents a uniquely different cultural show and dinner that will take you on a journey from the past to the present. Trams, old steam trains and historic buildings fill the amazing sets. Based on a true story of real characters and actual events, the re-enactments are mind-blowing! Enjoy the arts, craft, song, dance and the roast dinner banquet, for this is an emotional, unique night that will fill your senses. You will be collected from the hotel at 6pm for a 6.30 show.  Enjoy this entertaining evening, with complimentary drinks on us!
 

Optional Activities

6: Christchurch Tram Ride
Ride through the city centre in beautifully restored vintage trams, while your tram driver gives an informative commentary. You can leave the tram at any one of the 11 stops, rejoining it later. So jump aboard and enjoy the ride – the entire trip takes about 25 minutes, but with so many things to see and do on the way, it could take all day! A unique way to view the heart of Christchurch City. Cost is $15 and tickets are valid for two days.
 
 
7: Punting on the Avon River
Sit back and indulge in the tranquility and beauty of the Avon River!  Sink into the velvet cushions of your boat as the Edwardian punter gently glides you along the river during your 30 minute tour through your choice of two locations, City or Park. From the Park landing site, pass the trailing willows and leafy banks of the stunning Christchurch Botanic Gardens. The City landing site takes you on a peaceful journey through the central city, gliding beneath weeping willows and alongside historic buildings. Cost is $20 per person and bookings essential.
 
 
8: Canterbury Museum
Canterbury Museum is in the heart of Christchurch City, within strolling distance of the Botanic Gardens, The Christchurch Arts Centre, Christchurch Art Gallery and Cathedral Square. General Admission is free.
 
9: Christchurch Art Centre
The Arts Centre of Christchurch is a vibrant and exciting venue for a huge range of New Zealand made art and crafts, shopping, education and entertainment. There truly is something for everyone, with highlights including over 40 specialty shops, fine art galleries, world-class theatre, art house cinemas, bars, restaurants and cafes, a bustling weekend Art, Craft & Produce Market and an array of festivals and special events throughout the year. Once the site of the University of Canterbury, these distinctive Gothic Revival buildings are today a maze of fun, wonder and delight and form part of our award-winning tourism attraction. General entry is free.
 
10: Christchurch Art Gallery
Christchurch Art Gallery "Te Puna o Waiwhetu" opened on 10 May, 2003 in the heart of the city's cultural precinct, bounded by Worcester Boulevard, Gloucester and Montreal Streets. The new $47.5 million facility features two floors of exhibition space, two educational activity areas, an auditorium, a café and wine bar, two retail outlets, a Sculpture Garden and underground parking. General entry is free.
 
11: Christchurch Botanic Gardens
The Christchurch Botanic Gardens inspires and educates visitors by showcasing flora and fauna of New Zealand and other parts of the world. Founded in 1863 with the planting of an English Oak tree, the Gardens now features one of the finest collections of exotic and native plants found in New Zealand. Towering majestic trees - many over 120 years old - dominate the Gardens, forming a striking backdrop to the extensive themed plant collections and sweeping lawns. A loop of the gently-flowing Avon River, criss-crossed by bridges, encloses a large part of the Gardens while the adjacent 164 hectare Hagley Park enhances its natural splendour. The Gardens is an oasis in the city of Christchurch - 21 hectares of beautiful horticultural displays, several conservatories, memorials, garden art and walking tracks, open every day of the year and admission is free!
