DUNEDIN / MT COOK

Next Day »

This morning travel out to the Otago Peninsula, a precious wildlife habitat.  Your first stop is Larnach Castle and you are here for a guided tour of the grounds and interior. Continue on Natures Wonders and get up close and personal with the penguins, seals and birdlife that inhabit this region. Depart Dunedin in the afternoon and visit the village of Oamaru, stopping to look at the old whitestone buildings unique to this town. Follow the Waitaki Valley to the region known as Mackenzie Country, viewing the Alpine Blue Lakes and snow-capped mountain scenery along the way, before arriving at Aoraki, Mt Cook!  A visit to New Zealand MUST include a stay at the base of this mountain, and while most operators choose to stay at Twizel (kilometres from the mountain), you will love this intimate experience, staying at The Hermitage Hotel, a truly majestic property offering more to do than any other resort in New Zealand!
